Tobacco, illegal drugs, alcohol, and chemicals used on our bodies / around our homes can all contribute to chronic diseases, and misuse / excessive use can even lead to death.
Our goal is to provide avoidance strategies, or safe usage guidance, or various treatment options that will help you break addictive habits and restore you to optimal wellbeing.
General Guidelines
ALCOHOL GUIDELINES
Standard alcoholic drink in US: 12oz beer, 5oz table wine, 1.5oz of 80-proof spirits

TYPICAL CONTAINERS
750mL wine = 5 drinks
750mL spirits = 18 drinks
1L spirits = 24 drinks

LOW RISK DRINKING GUIDE by NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR HEALTH
Men: No more than 4 drinks/day, no more than 14 drinks in 7 days.
Women: No more than 3 drinks/day, no more than 7 drinks in 7 days
​
Binge drinking is defined as 5 drinks in 2 hours for men, 4 drinks in 2 hours for women.

KICKING THE SMOKING, DRINKING, DRUG HABIT
People who are ready, can and do, quit smoking, stop drinking alcohol and wean themselves off addictive drugs. Treatments often takes time, and may require different approaches and many attempts. Slips and relapses are normal and are considered part of the change process - the key is to be patient and get support from others.

AVOIDING TOBACCO, ALCOHOL AND DRUGS
Early education and setting goals around the use of tobacco products, alcohol and drugs is the best way to avoid getting trapped with an addiction.

AVOIDING CHEMICAL/TOXIN EXPOSURE
Early education and setting goals around limiting/restricting the use of household chemicals; chemically-laden beauty products and personal hygiene products; drinking water; agricultural chemicals; home gardening chemicals and more, will go a long way to lowering/minimizing your exposure to toxins and other unnatural substances.
